Elizabeth Sims


Elizabeth hails from the former UW Genome Center of Dr. Maynard Olson, where she was employed as a research scientist from 1997 until formally joining the Miller Lab at the beginning of 2009. Teamed with long-time UWGC colleague, Dr. Michael Jacobs, Elizabeth now serves to represent the Genomics division of the Miller Lab, in which she lends her professional expertise in molecular cloning techniques toward genetic analysis in support of research aims associated with the Pacific Northwest Regional Center of Excellence. She is engaged with numerous collaborative projects which involve epidemiological and phylogenetic studies of enteric pathogens as they relate to emerging infectious disease and the potential threat of future bioterrorism. Her current area of specialization is focused on further development of new-generation sequencing technologies with emphasis on gram-negative bacterial genomics.
